New 3.8 Earthquake Near Patras

earthquake patrasA new earthquake was recorded shortly after 11:15 EET in the area of Patras. According to data of the Institute of Geodynamics at the Greek National Observatory of Athens, the earthquake had a magnitude of 3.8 on the Richter scale.
Its epicenter was located in the Corinthian Gulf between the localities of Kamares and Seliniatika in the municipality of Aigialeia, and had a focus depth of five kilometers. The vibrations of the earth tremor were felt in Patras, Nafpaktos, Aigio and other coastal regions of Achaia, Aitoloakarnania, Fokida and Korinthia.
According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre, the earthquake had a magnitude of 4.2 on the Richter scale and its epicenter was two kilometers north of Selianitika and 27km east of Patras, Greece.
So far there are no reports of damages.
This latest earthquake seems to be linked to the other earthquakes occurring in the last days over the Greek territory and causing severe damages on the Greek island of Kefalonia.
