Greeks Wait Last Minute to Arrange Holidays

araxovaAccording to the head of the Hellenic Association of Travel and Tourist Agencies (HATTA), Mr. Giorgos Telonis, most of the reservations for Christmas and New Year’s vacations will be made the last 2 weeks before the Holidays. Those will be the ones determining the course of the domestic holiday tourism for the year 2013.
Last minute reservations will be those to determine the final prices on the holiday packages. Once again, Arachova and Zagorochoria, the first in central Greece and the second in Epirus, are the most wanted and most popular winter holiday destinations. The reservations for both, Arachova and Zagorochoria, seem to have started earlier than the ones for other destinations.
The foreign destinations of  London, Paris, Istanbul and Munich, along with cities in Austria and Italy, are the most preferable. Mr. Telonis also stated that the festive season’s outflow of Greek tourists comes second in line, after the summer season. Nevertheless, due to the recession, a 12 percent decline was observed in last year’s festive season’s travelling. This decline forced Greek agencies to cut down their profits so that cheaper and more competitive packages could be offered to customers.
