Actress Zozo Zarpa Has Passed Away

Today, Greek media paid tribute to renowned actress Zozo Zarpa, who passed away due to a heart attack on Thursday April 19, at the age of 73. Major newspapers in the country call her a “calm and moral” personality.
She was born in 1939 and studied at the Drama School of National Theatre of Greece. Zarpa had several roles, mostly in theatre and cinema.
Her career began in ancient drama plays. Apart from being an actress, she also managed to establish the Themelion theatre and a new Drama School as well, together with her sister Elda Dimopoulos, and Yannis Negrapontis.
Zarpa became popular in the US when she acted as ‘Yiayia’ in a Greek yogurt commercial. The hilarious plot made the Greek community and Americans love her, so much so that the YouTube video has almost 1,200,000 views.
The funeral of the beloved Greek actress will be held on Friday, April 20 at the cemetery of Chalandri region, Attica.
