Northern Cyprus Demolishes Greek Orthodox Churches

The occupying regime in Northern Cyprus has not taken care of and doesn’t allow the maintenance of Greek churches. However it administers real demolitions, finding funny excuses.
According to publications of Turkish- Cypriot newspapers, the chapel of Agia Thekla, which was near the coast of the occupied village Vokolida, at the peninsula of Karpasia, was demolished Tuesday afternoon with a bulldozer. According to Turkish-Cypriot newspaper “Yeni Duzen”, the chapel was demolished because one of its walls was considered to be dangerous.
The same publication mentions that the chapel was next to “Noah’s Ark” hotel, which is expected to open next month. Another publication by the newspaper “Kibris”, refers to the church and the monastery of St. Panteleimon in the occupied village Myrtou, in the area of Keryneia. As it is pointed out, these two need to be repaired otherwise they will soon collapse.
