Nearly half of all Greek businesses now actively deploy artificial intelligence to accelerate their corporate growth. A landmark study commissioned by Amazon Web Services (AWS) reveals a powerful digital transformation sweeping through the national economy.
The comprehensive report, titled Unlocking Greece’s AI Potential 2026, shows that national AI adoption skyrocketed to 47 percent this year. This milestone marks a massive 13-percentage-point increase from the 34 percent adoption rate recorded in 2025.
Research firm Strand Partners surveyed 1,000 corporate leaders and 1,000 citizens to map this historic technological expansion.
Streamlining operations with intelligent automation
Greek enterprises are rapidly embedding automated systems into their daily operations to maximize corporate efficiency.
Among local adopters, 61 percent utilize the technology to automate routine tasks and optimize internal workflows.
An additional 22 percent have successfully integrated intelligent models across multiple core business functions.
Most impressively, 17 percent of Greek firms now deploy advanced customized systems, up from 12 percent last year. These sophisticated leaders go far beyond ready-made chatbots. They develop proprietary algorithms and unleash agentic systems that plan and execute complex operations with minimal human intervention.
Productivity skyrockets as cloud services expand
Even initial integration is delivering substantial financial and operational rewards across the Greek marketplace.
An overwhelming 88 percent of AI-adopting businesses report immediate productivity gains.
Concurrently, 56 percent confirm that the technology has significantly accelerated their internal innovation rates. This success has transformed corporate planning, with 63 percent of business leaders classifying AI as a top strategic priority.
A massive surge in cloud adoption directly fuels this nationwide technological boom. Cloud infrastructure usage jumped from 49 percent to 60 percent within a single year. Businesses utilize these secure online networks to access massive computing power, scalable data storage, and advanced software. Consequently, 47 percent of executives identify robust cloud access as the primary catalyst supporting their digital migration.
Overcoming the digital skills deficit
To sustain this aggressive growth, Greek enterprises are actively working to upgrade their internal workforce capabilities.
Currently, 48 percent of local business leaders identify digital skills shortages as a key operational hurdle. Another 36 percent point to tight internal financial resources, while 31 percent note limited human resource capacity. Only 16 percent of surveyed firms currently consider their internal tech skills strong.
To bridge this gap, 66 percent of corporate adopters emphasize that public grants and state programs remain vital. Public demand for training is surging.
While only 18 percent of workers received specialized instruction this year, 59 percent demand further digital skills training.
Dynamic startups eye global opportunities
Greece’s vibrant startup ecosystem is fiercely leading the national tech charge with unparalleled agility.
An astonishing 73 percent of local startups aggressively utilize artificial intelligence, far outpacing the broader corporate average.
These high-growth companies view advanced technology as a critical capability to secure long-term global competitiveness.
To accelerate their expansion, 41 percent of startup founders are actively exploring international growth opportunities.
Furthermore, they seek seamless access to venture capital, larger consumer markets, and rapid cross-border distribution networks. This corporate momentum mirrors a massive shift in public habits, as 56 percent of Greek citizens now use AI tools at least weekly.
