An alleged drug trafficking network on Mykonos used VIP transport services to supply tourists with cocaine and other narcotics, while its suspected Turkish leader spoke of “conquering” the island before Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan “arrives”, according to police recordings.
The intercepted conversations form part of an investigation into a group that authorities say had been active on the island since at least May 2026. Police believe drugs were brought to Mykonos on a weekly basis and then distributed through a network with clearly defined roles.
Mykonos drug ring allegedly sought wider reach before Erdogan’s arrival
In one recorded conversation, the alleged leader discussed renting a property in the Fabrika area through several companies and establishing legitimate businesses while keeping the group’s existing customers.
During the exchange, he said he would “conquer Mykonos” before Erdogan arrived and have the island “ready” for him. Authorities have not suggested any link between the Turkish president and the alleged criminal organization.
Investigators say VIP and passenger transport drivers played an important role in the network. Their contact with visitors allegedly allowed the group to identify potential customers and arrange drug deliveries discreetly.
Pink cocaine allegedly sold under code name
Police recordings also indicate that members used coded language when referring to drugs.
The word “lahmacun” was allegedly used for pink cocaine, also known as TUCI or tusi. In one conversation, a driver told the suspected leader that a customer had complained about the quality of the substance he had received.
Pink cocaine is a street term for brightly colored mixtures of psychoactive drugs and does not necessarily contain cocaine.
Drugs, cash and firearm seized
Searches of residences on Mykonos and in the greater Athens area, along with vehicles and other locations linked to the suspects, uncovered more than 350 grams of cocaine, 155 grams of pink cocaine, 277 grams of cannabis, MDMA and ecstasy tablets.
Police also seized a firearm, precision scales, vaping devices, mobile phones and a safe.
More than €80,000 in cash was recovered, along with nearly $9,500 and £640. Authorities estimate that the value of the drugs and alleged proceeds linked to the specific batch exceeded €170,000. Four of those arrested had previously come to the attention of police for similar offenses.

Other intercepted conversations allegedly captured members discussing retaliation against officers carrying out traffic checks on Mykonos.
The suspected leader and a driver reportedly spoke about bringing masked men to attack police officers and referred to methods used by criminal groups in Mexico.
The case is the latest in a series of drug investigations on Mykonos during the summer season. In two separate operations in June, authorities dismantled other alleged networks and seized several kilograms of cocaine, pink cocaine, ketamine, methamphetamine, cannabis and other narcotics.
