US President Donald Trump reposted an interview featuring Greek Minister of Migration and Asylum Thanos Plevris on his Truth Social platform without an accompanying comment. The original interview was published by the US outlet Breitbart News.
In the interview, Plevris outlines Greece’s border control policy and argues that Europe’s approach to immigration has undergone a significant shift following Trump’s return to the White House. Describing himself as a “fan of Trump,” Plevris contends that European nations, including Germany, France, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Sweden, are adopting stricter migration frameworks in response to growing public demand for effective border security.
“We could discuss President Trump for an hour or two. As you know, I am a fan of his,” Plevris said in the interview. “But if you ask me what the best thing he did was, it was changing US migration policy, because now we have a new migration policy in Europe as well. We had a bad policy in Europe, and that was due to the US, not Europe—that is the truth.”
Plevris noted that a similar shift is visible in Greece, citing public opinion polls showing that a majority of citizens either support the government’s current stance or advocate for even tighter measures.
