Greece’s Minister of Tourism, Olga Kefalogianni, traveled to Salzburg, Austria, for a series of official meetings. The visit took place at the invitation of an Austrian deputy minister, and the discussions focused primarily on tourism education and mountain tourism, according to an announcement by the Greek Ministry of Tourism.
Focus on Tourism Education
The ministry stated that tourism training and education were among the central themes raised during the minister’s meetings in Salzburg.
While the announcement did not detail specific agreements or programs discussed, the emphasis on education points to an ongoing interest in strengthening the skills and professional standards of workers in the tourism sector, an issue that has been a recurring priority for the Greek government as it seeks to sustain the quality of its tourism offering.

Austria, and Salzburg in particular, is internationally recognized for its long-established mountain and alpine tourism sector, making it a natural point of reference for discussions on how Greece might further develop tourism in its own mountainous regions.
Greece has in recent years sought to expand interest in alternative forms of tourism, including in its mountainous and rural areas, as part of a broader strategy to spread visitor numbers more evenly across regions and throughout the year.
