Average gross monthly earnings in Cyprus increased by 3.7 percent during the first quarter of 2026, reaching €2,601, according to provisional figures released by the Cyprus Statistical Service (CYSTAT).
The increase marks continued wage growth across the Cypriot economy, although at a slightly slower annual pace than the 4.9 percent increase recorded during the same period in 2025.
On a seasonally adjusted basis, average gross monthly earnings rose 0.8 percent compared with the fourth quarter of 2025, indicating continued upward momentum after accounting for regular seasonal fluctuations.
Women recorded faster annual wage growth
Average gross monthly earnings for male employees reached €2,776 in the first quarter of 2026, representing a 3.3 percent increase from a year earlier.
Female employees earned an average salary of €2,378 per month, with annual earnings increasing by 4.2 percent, outpacing the rate of wage growth among men. Despite the stronger growth, average earnings for women remained below those of male employees.
Cyprus Monthly Salary: Most employees receive between €1,500 and €2,999
The report shows that the largest share of workers—40.9 percent—earned between €1,500 and €2,999 per month before deductions.
About one-third of employees (33.9 percent) earned less than €1,500 monthly, while 13.1 percent received between €3,000 and €4,499. A further 6.4 percent earned between €4,500 and €5,999, and 5.7 percent received €6,000 or more as a monthly salary.
The earnings distribution differed by nationality. Cypriot employees were primarily concentrated in the €1,500–€2,999 income bracket, while non-Cypriot workers were more heavily represented among employees earning below €1,500 per month.
How CYSTAT calculates earnings
The statistics are compiled using administrative records from the Social Insurance Services and cover employees across nearly all sectors of the economy.
Average gross monthly earnings include basic salary, cost-of-living allowance, overtime pay, holiday fund payments, bonuses, 13th and 14th salaries, and other allowances before deductions for social insurance or taxes.
CYSTAT noted that quarterly data from the first quarter of 2025 onward are provisional and may be revised as additional information becomes available.
