The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) restaurant technology provider Foodics has finalized its full, 100% acquisition of Greek-based Norma AI, a startup specializing in analytics for the hospitality and restaurant sectors. The transaction marks the final step following Foodics’ initial minority stake investment in the company during Q1 2025.
That early-stage backing allowed Foodics to embed Norma’s features directly into its ecosystem. According to the company, the software has already rolled out to over 10,000 Foodics client branches since the initial integration phase.
Reflecting on the merger, Norma co-founder George Henein noted:
“By joining forces with Foodics, we gain the scale, resources, and reach to accelerate the adoption of what we’re building. Combining Foodics’ market leadership with Norma’s expertise in AI and analytics creates a strong foundation for the next generation of hospitality technology.”
With the buyout now finalized, the entire Norma workforce has transitioned into Foodics’ dedicated AI department. Additionally, Norma’s specialized Analytics Agent and business intelligence tools have been completely absorbed into the Foodics core platform.
Greek startup is a pioneer in business intelligence applications
Founded and built in Greece by George Henein and Anastasios Anastasiadis, the startup pioneered one of the industry’s first natural-language business intelligence applications. The technology empowers hospitality operators to ask complex business questions in plain language, receive instant insights, and build custom dashboards in seconds. By joining forces with a regional heavyweight, the team gains the scale, resources, and reach necessary to fast-track the global adoption of its technology.
Moving forward, Foodics indicated that this expanded AI team will focus heavily on pioneering the next wave of agentic AI built specifically for the restaurant industry, giving managers the tools to execute smart, real-time choices.
Highlighting the vision behind the deal, Foodics co-founder and CEO Ahmad Al-Zaini stated:
“As the industry grew more complex, so did the data – and turning that data into fast, confident decisions became one of the biggest challenges operators face. Our acquisition of Norma accelerates our agentic AI development roadmap and product releases and strengthens our value proposition. For our operators, that translates directly into greater efficiency, smarter decision-making, and healthier profit margins.”
Currently, Foodics services more than 40,000 locations and is actively scaling its footprint throughout North Africa and the Gulf Cooperation Council. Since its inception in 2014, the platform has successfully managed over six billion orders.
