Akylas, with the catchy song “Ferto,” is the winner of the final competition to represent Greece in the Eurovision 2026 song contest in Vienna with 48 points.

With tears in his eyes, the 27-year-old from Serres invited his mother on stage after the announcement of his win. In second place was Good Job Nicky with 33 points, while Marsaux placed third with 32 points.

In a glamorous show presented by Giorgos Kapoutzidis, Betty Maggira, and Katerina Vrana, fourteen singers and bands participated in the final after being selected from two semi-finals. All participants competed for the cherished first place to represent Greece in the popular European music contest.

The contest

Good Job Nicky, performing sixth and considered the second favorite in the National Final for Eurovision 2026, captivated the audience with his impressive voice.

His entry, “Dark Side of the Moon,” with music by Connor Mullally and Trey Qua and lyrics by Connor Mullally, Trey Qua, and Good Job Nicky, was competing for the coveted “golden ticket” to represent Greece at the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna in May. Meanwhile, Akylas, performing twelfth, brought immense anticipation with the buzz surrounding his name and delivered a performance that swept those in the audience off their feet.

From the first notes of “Ferto,” the crowd erupted, confirming why Akylas had been the clear favorite of this year’s competition. At the conclusion of the show, as all participants gathered on stage, Akylas received another round of enthusiastic applause when he dedicated his winning performance to his mother.

The voting procedure

The winning song was determined by a combination of the public vote (50 percent) and two judging panels—one Greek (25 percent) and one international (25 percent). In the event of a tie, the public vote would take precedence.

Viewers could cast their votes either by sending a text (SMS) from a Greek phone number to 54222 or online, whether in Greece or abroad, through the dedicated voting platform at https://sfg.vote. Voters were permitted to submit up to ten ballots via SMS. Notably, this year marked the first time that Greeks living abroad could participate in selecting the song to represent the country at the Eurovision Song Contest.
