The Greek fans of Netflix hit series Emily in Paris can have legitimate expectations they might see Lily Collins and her co-stars film in Greece for a potential season 6 of the popular show.
Speaking exclusively to Us Weekly, director and executive producer Andrew Fleming confirmed there are indeed thoughts that Greece might be the next country where Emily’s story will continue to unfold – if a new season is greenlit for production by Netflix.
As season 5 premiered on the world-popular streaming platform on December 18, fans can only speculate where Emily’s life and love adventures will take her next.
Emily could be visiting ex beau Gabriel in Greece
Emily in Paris’s season 5 finale hints that the next chapter of the whirlwind romance between Emily and French ex beau Gabriel, played by Lucas Bravo, could be written in Greece.
Gabriel is pictured in the last episode working on a boat preparing to dock in Greece, and pens a heartfelt letter to Emily, inviting her to visit him.
Moving episodes of the story of Emily out of its idyllic Parisian backdrop and into an entirely new country is not new to the series, as season 5 was already part shot at iconic destinations in Italy; Venice and Rome, where the protagonist starts a future with new boyfriend Marcello, played by Eugenio Franceschini.
In Fleming’s own words, “Assuming we’re picked up [for season 6], I want to go back to Paris. But I want to go other places too”.
“It’s teased where we might end up going at the end of season 5 — there’s a possibility we’ll be going there, to Greece.”
Emily in Paris on European state leaders’ radar
The news of filming more of the series episodes abroad might not excite French President Emmanuel Macron – who famously told Variety in October 2024 that he planned to “fight hard” so Emily in Paris didn’t relocate to Italy in the first place – but cast member Samuel Arnold, who plays Julian, seems to be sharing the vision.
“I am not going to lie. If they want to shoot in Greece, whatever the reason, I say, ‘Let’s go.’ I’ve never been to Greece,” he told Us Weekly.
If we are to judge by the Greek leader’s personal viewing preferences, the show will be most welcome to film in Greece.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis in 2023 admitted to Greek TV host Grigoris Arnaoutoglou on Ant1 TV that whenever he wants to really relax he watches Emily in Paris with his wife Mareva, and finds the series “really entertaining.”
Lily Collins is very aware of the Greek Premier’s comment, and recently referrenced it during her interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
So, who knows?
While all roads lead to Rome in season 5, maybe Emily’s way to Greece is even paved with rose petals for season 6.
