These accolades are the result of targeted efforts by the Municipality of Samos, which initiated early negotiations with British tour operators to establish direct flight routes.
During the recent World Travel Market (WTM) in London, local officials engaged in high-level meetings with travel networks and global media. Vangelis Marnezos, Deputy Mayor of Tourism, stated:
“We are leveraging the diverse potential of our destination to consolidate our presence in established markets while opening new doors, such as the UK. Our contacts at WTM confirmed a strong appetite for destinations that remain authentic and untouched by overtourism.”
The island’s growing reputation was further cemented at the Greek Travel Awards, organized by the GNTO UK Office. Samos was voted the top Greek destination for outdoor escapes by the British public, a distinction that underscores its status as a leader in nature-based and alternative travel.
