America’s new ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Guilfoyle, is expected to arrive in Athens this weekend and will kick off her diplomatic tenure with a nightclub party on Sunday hosted by Greek pop idol Konstantinos Argyros.
On Thursday, the UK’s Daily Mail published an invitation to the party at Kentro Athinon, a downtown Athens dance club. The November 2 event, scheduled for 9 p.m., asks attendees to RSVP to the US Embassy in Athens.
Guilfoyle’s friendship with Argyros first made headlines at a London charity gala for The Hellenic Initiative on October 9, when she was pulled on stage to dance with the performer during his set. Greece’s new ambassador is scheduled to officially begin her duties next Tuesday after arriving in Athens, when she will present her diplomatic credentials to Greek President Konstantinos Tasoulas.
Her debut engagement as ambassador is slated for November 6–7, when she will host a reception at the Zappeion in conjunction with the Transatlantic Energy Cooperation Forum. Among the reportedly expected attendees are US Energy Secretary Chris Wright and Greece’s Energy Minister Stavros Papastavrou.
Guilfoyle was sworn in as the next US Ambassador to Greece at a ceremony in the Department of State in late September. She is the first female US envoy to Athens. “It is the honor of a lifetime to be sworn in today as Ambassador to the Hellenic Republic, surrounded by friends and loved ones here at the State Department. Proud to serve @POTUS and the American people in Greece,” Guilfoyle wrote on social media.
