US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were welcomed to Windsor Castle on Friday, with one of the most elaborate state ceremonies Britain has staged in recent years. King Charles III and Queen Camilla personally greeted the couple, joined by the Prince and Princess of Wales, highlighting the high-profile nature of the visit.
The Trumps took part in a ceremonial carriage procession across the castle grounds, a display rich in tradition and military precision. More than 120 horses and 1,300 personnel from the British Armed Forces—including the Household Division, Royal Marines, and the Royal Air Force—participated in the procession. The ceremony reached a dramatic climax with 41 cannon salutes fired from restored World War I artillery, a rare spectacle for visiting heads of state.

The royal family hosted the Trumps Inside Windsor Castle for a specially curated exhibition from the Royal Collection, featuring rare artifacts tied to the history of the United States. The display symbolized the enduring cultural and diplomatic ties between the two nations.
This marked Trump’s second official visit to the United Kingdom. His first, in 2019, was hosted by the late Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace. With ongoing renovations at Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle served as the venue for the ceremonial welcome this year.
Tight security measures
Security for the visit was unprecedented. Thames Valley Police and other authorities mounted 24-hour patrols, supported by armored vehicles, drones, sniffer dogs, and mounted units. Royal Marines patrolled the River Thames, both on boats and underwater, demonstrating the extraordinary lengths taken to secure the area.

Christian Bunt, assistant chief constable of Thames Valley Police, described the operation as “one of the most comprehensive security plans ever implemented for a visiting head of state.” He noted that measures were continuously reviewed and adjusted throughout the visit.
The US President also traveled with a large motorcade, including “The Beast,” his armored limousine flown in from Washington. British authorities monitored social media in real-time to detect potential disruptions, as demonstrations were expected both in Windsor and central London.
The visit combined royal pageantry with modern security measures, underscoring both the diplomatic significance and the logistical complexity of hosting a US president on British soil.
