Olympiacos lavishly celebrated its 48th Greek championship on Sunday night at the packed Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium, following their win over PAOK 4-2. The celebration was marked by fireworks, music, and moments of emotional display as fans filled every seat to honor another historic milestone for the club.
Olympiacos had Kristoffer Velde, Ayoub El Kaabi, Chiquinho, and Gelson Martins to thank for their goals, while PAOK’s Andrija Zivkovic scored twice.
With one game left to play, Olympiakos attained 72 points, while Panathinaikos has accumulated 59, PAOK 55, and AEK 53. Therefore, the only place still at stake is the third one, to be determined next Sunday when PAOK hosts AEK.
Olympiacos wins the Greek title after European triumph
Club owner Evangelos Marinakis, flanked by team captain Panagiotis Retsos and top scorer Ayoub El Kaabi, lifted the 2024–25 Super League trophy to the delight of the Olympiacos faithful. The scene was one of jubilation, as red and white confetti filled the air, marking the culmination of a triumphant season.
In his address during the ceremony, Marinakis reflected on the club’s achievements over the past year. “Nearly 12 months have passed during which we all experienced unforgettable moments—all of Greece did,” he said.
“We made the country proud, winning two European trophies, and now, in our centenary year, we celebrate our 48th league title. But this is not the end. We continue to dream and to [strive] for greater heights.”
He also highlighted the importance of Olympiacos’ youth academy, praising the rise of young, talented players.
“Years ago, these kids helped carry our trophies; today, they are lifting European silverware and representing the first team. I ask for a round of applause for all these wonderful young players,” Marinakis said, singling out youngsters Mouzakitis and Kostoulas, who played key roles this season.
“They were part of past celebrations as ball boys, and this year they made a real impact on the pitch—scoring beautiful goals and helping us defeat major rivals like Panathinaikos and top European sides,” he added.
Marinakis concluded by announcing the upcoming opening of the club’s new museum.
“It’s a work of art—one of the most modern museums in Europe—and it will be open by June 30. All Greeks will be able to visit and witness the greatness of Olympiacos. We thrive under pressure, and in the end, we always overcome our rivals and celebrate with style.”
Founded on March 10, 1925, Olympiacos is the most successful club in Greek football history, having won 48 league titles, 28 Cups (18 doubles), four Super Cups, all records, and three international titles (The UEFA Youth League in 2023-24, the UEFA Europa Conference League in 2023–24, and the Balkans Cup in 1963).
