Jon Collins-Black, a musician who became an entrepreneur in California, has just launched a treasure hunt worth $2 million in the United States. In an interview with Business Insider, he explained that he had previously made a significant amount of money in bitcoin investments, and during the COVID-19 pandemic, he began crafting a project to acquire some valuable items and start a 2 million-dollar treasure hunt.
At the moment, there are five chests buried on US soil, one large treasure chest, and four smaller pieces of loot.
The entrepreneur clarified that none of the treasures are on private land and that acquiring the boxes will not require ‘stunts’ or put one’s physical safety at risk.

Additionally, the author revealed that the treasure, worth over $2 million in total, varies in value, potentially including Bitcoin, shipwreck bounty, rare Pokémon cards, and sports memorabilia. He explained that this variability is designed to appeal to a wide range of people and encourage participation in his treasure hunt
Is the hunt legitimate?
These types of contests usually raise suspicions, as they sound too good to be true. However, the treasure hunt organized by Collins-Black seems to be legitimate in principle. In the same interview with Business Insider, he allowed them to verify that he indeed acquired the advertised objects through auctions by looking at his receipts.
He also told the news outlet that he had a loose budget to acquire the precious objects, but it mostly ranged between $2 and $3 million.
Additionally, Collins-Black has said he is the only one who knows where the treasure is hidden, as he hid the boxes himself, hiking more than a hundred miles on his trips.
As the treasure hunt unfolds, the true test will be how participants respond to the challenge.
