Trump shot but survives
Trump had just started his speech at a Pennsylvania rally as suddenly loud bangs could be heard and he fell to the ground. The video feed of the Trump campaign shows Secret Service immediately rushing to shield the former president and rush him off the stage. Trump could be seen raising his fist as he was escorted off the stage while a streak of blood was coming down his face.
The former president is now safe and treated for non-threatening life injuries.
“President Trump thanks law enforcement and first responders for their quick action during this heinous act. He is fine and is being checked out at a local medical facility. More details will follow,” Trump spokesman Steven Cheung told Press.
Donald Trump Jr. the former President’s elder son, also assured the public that his father is doing fine.
First statement by Donald Trump
Former President Trump himself released the following statement hours after the shooting on his truth social account:
“I want to thank The United States Secret Service, and all of Law Enforcement, for their rapid response on the shooting that just took place in Butler, Pennsylvania. Most importantly, I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person at the Rally who was killed, and also to the family of another person that was badly injured. It is incredible that such an act can take place in our Country. Nothing is known at this time about the shooter, who is now dead. I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”
Sources close to the Trump Campaign told Greek Reporter that the alleged perpetrator was neutralized. Later on, US media reported that the 20-year old had been shot dead.
Later on on Sunday, former President Trump issued another statement, on his Truth Social platform. There he was defiant, asking the American people not to fear and to show unity.
