A Greek man is believed to be a central figure in the intensifying gang wars that have recently gripped Sweden. Recent incidents include a fatal shooting in a Stockholm suburb, another deadly shooting in Jordbro, and a deadly explosion in Uppsala. In total, three people became victims of these criminal incidents.

In addition to this, September has seen the highest number of shooting deaths since 2016, with at least eleven casualties.

Authorities are investigating potential links between these incidents, all associated with ongoing gang dispute. Swedish Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer acknowledged the public’s concern, Euronews says.

As it was reported, at the core of this wave of violence lies a feud between two rival organized crime groups fighting for supremacy in the drug and weapons trade.

As a response to the violence, the police has detained and arrested several individuals in connection with these incidents. The government is also in the process of increasing penalties for possessing explosives without a permit from three to five years.

The exact links between these incidents remain unconfirmed. However, Swedish media has suggested that at least two of the three events may be connected to the ongoing feud between criminal gangs. In addition, a Greek man could have played a key role in these incidents of gang violence.

Swedish Government’s Reaction to Gang Wars

The government has responded by tightening laws aimed at combating gang-related crime. It includes penalties, set to increase from three to five years, for possessing explosives without a permit.

Magdalena Andersson, leader of the main opposition party, the Social Democrats, proposed the possibility of military assistance in an effort to relieve the police of transportation and guard duties. However, Strömmer indicated that deploying the military was not currently on the table. Nevertheless, he expressed a willingness to explore all viable options to address the ongoing surge of violence.

Greek Man May Be Behind Gang Wars

As numerous media outlets report, at the epicenter of gang warfare stands Mikael Alstrom Tenezos, known as “Greken” or “the Greek.” This 25-year-old former hockey player has emerged as a prominent figure in the conflict, primarily due to his feud with Rava Majid, the alleged leader of the rival Foxtrot gang.

Earlier this year, Swedish newspapers linked Tenezos to a series of explosions and shootings in Stockholm. These incidents were reportedly linked to the battle for control of the drug trade in the central Swedish city of Sundsvall.

Furthermore, the Greek man is believed to be associated with the Dalen criminal gang, originating in the southern Stockholm district of the same name.
