Sotheby’s Sells Villa in Lefkada for a Record $5,8M

A spectacular villa on the Greek island of Lefkada was sold through Sotheby’s for around 14,000 euros per square meter. Built near the sea, the price of the home reached a record for the island, selling for almost 5.8 million dollars.

Villa Atlas has unveiled the real estate potential now present in Greece where, despite the high prices circulating, it still remains lower than in countries like Italy or Spain.

Located at Sivota bay, on the side of a cliff, villa Atlas is encircled by beautiful, green vegetation and views of the Ionian sea.

The villa

Atlas includes a total of 8 bedrooms, 10 bathrooms and infinity pools. The upper level of the main villa, was designed to be an independent guest house, a private sanctuary with a sea view bedroom, private garden and plunge pool.

The villa project effortlessly intertwines modern-day architecture with nature, making the most of its environment while simultaneously respecting it. Planted roof and underground building techniques bring back the landscape to its original form with minimal intervention. Areas were also replanted with local herbs and plants.

The entrance to the house begins at the highest point with paved terraces leading visitors down to the main house.

Must Sees in Lefkada

In Lefkada, besides the famous Porto Katsiki beach, you will find two lagoons, called Divari and Ivaria. Several different types of migratory birds frequent these lagoons from winter to spring. Thick vegetation surrounds the lagoons, providing the shelter and safety necessary for the fowl.

Lefkada also has high mountains which are the sources for numerous waterfalls flowing from the mountainous territory into the sea. Dimossari Waterfall is one such enchanting feature, located just on the outskirts of Nidri.

The castle of Agia Mavra was built in the 14th century. This magnificent castle has been extensively renovated and remains very well preserved to this day. Erstwhile rulers of Sicily built it with the primary goal of protecting the old town.

There, one will find a beautiful church dedicated to Agia Mavra, which becomes the scene of much activity during the summer as it provides many cultural events.
