Following their first Eurovision rehearsals of 2021 on Monday and Sunday respectively, both Greece and Cyprus left viewers with strong impressions of their performances. The neighboring countries are forecasted to do very well throughout the competition.

The Eurovision Song Contest, which is the most-watched non-sporting event worldwide, was unfortunately cancelled last year due to the coronavirus situation.

The Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT) broadcasts the event annually and is responsible for choosing the country’s entry song.

The Ahoy Arena in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, is the venue for this year’s song contest.

Stefania, Greece’s Eurovision representative for 2021, who is only 18 years of age, is preparing to represent her country in front of the whole world.

Her song “Last Dance” has been very well received by fans, with Eurovision blog site “wiwibloggs.com” pinning her as the favorite to win the whole competition following a poll with 36,426 responses.

During the rehearsal, she wore a stunning purple outfit designed by Vrettos Vrettakos and was flanked by her four male backup dancers, Nikos Koukakis, Costa Pavlopoulos, George Papadopoulos and Marko Giakoumoglou.

The choreography, by Fokas Evangelinos, stunned those who watched Stefania’s performance as she kept up and didn’t miss a beat. The set’s theme is all purple and there are special effects, including projections, which are sure to enthrall audiences on the big night.

Stefania’s next rehearsal is planned for Thursday, May 13th.

Cyprus highly favored following first rehearsal

Following controversy due to the song name being “satanic” according to some, Elena Tsagkrinou, the Greek singer representing Cyprus for the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest did very well in her rehearsal on Sunday.

The stunning showcase boosted Cyprus in the Eurovision betting leagues, with it now occupying 7th place, according to Greek pop culture site “PopUp.gr.”

Tsagkrinou’s performance of her song “El Diablo” was jaw-dropping, as she stunned in a silver dress designed by Silia Kritharioti.

She was surrounded by four backup dancers, who performed choreography by Chali Jennings. Jennings’ work is well-known after also having choreographed Cyprus’ most successful entry in the Eurovision of all time, Greek singer Eleni Foureira’s 2018 hit “Fuego.”

The majority of the song’s visual presentation is to be added using televised special effects rather than more conventional stage settings. The overall theme of the performance is the color red, to go along with the “El Diablo,” or devil, theme.

Following the first rehearsals for Eurovision 2021, France’s Barbara Pravi is now the best bet to win with her song “Voila,” according to bookmakers.
