VASSY Takes Over Times Square with New Song “Chase”

The release of VASSY’s new song, titled “CHASE,” has earned the Greek-Australian LA-based artist the honor of being projected over New York City’s Times Square on Friday. The dance-pop anthem, which is a collaboration with well-known producer duo Bonka, was released on Friday to coincide with the billboard, and can be streamed online now.

VASSY, whose real name is Vassy Karagiorgos, was born and raised in Australia. Her new song “CHASE” is a collaboration with fellow Australian producer duo Bonka, who have released extremely successful collaborations with artists such as the Chainsmokers in the past.

“CHASE” was written while VASSY was stranded in the US during the beginning of quarantine for the coronavirus. The song itself seems to embody the feeling of yearning to do something more, and is about surrendering to your inner demons’ desire to dance.

The new single came about as VASSY and the Bonka producers were chatting on the phone about how much they missed Australia. VASSY played a demo of the song over the phone to the duo and they immediately realized they had a hit on their hands.

“I teamed up with the boys as I was feeling very homesick and really missing Australia. Not being able to go back home because of the pandemic and quarantine restrictions that the Australian government placed, we ended up wanting to work on this song together, which was so amazing.

“It felt really good to make this with my fellow Australians and I am so excited to release this in Australia, as well as the US,” says VASSY of her addictive new release.

VASSY’s sultry vocals have allowed her to be incredibly successful over the past few years. Her chart-topping 2014 single with producer David Guetta, named “Bad,” skyrocketed through international charts and was certified seven times double platinum.

The Greek singer has also topped Billboard Dance Charts and US Dance Radio charts a staggering eight times. Some of her new releases which have contributed to this honor include “Trouble,” “Concrete Heart,” “Lost,” featuring Dutch DJ Afrojack, and “Nothing to Lose” produced with Tiësto.

Her single “Bad” with David Guetta has received the special accolade of reaching over 1 billion music streams. VASSY says of the milestone:

“It was so exciting to receive this award for being on the The 1,000,000,000 List. It’s such an honour considering that my career first started when I was acknowledged by APRA AMCOS in Australia before leaving for the US.

“To be acknowledged once again for one of my biggest records that I wrote and performed, which went number one in many countries around the world, putting me on the map globally as an Australian artist, singer and songwriter, was a great privilege..”
