Grim Milestone: Covid Deaths Exceed 3,000 in Greece

Greece recorded 904 new coronavirus cases on Sunday, the first time that the number of new infections dipped under 1,000 in weeks.

A total of 600 people with the virus are currently intubated in the country’s hospitals, and 101 people died with Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

In total, 115,471 cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in Greece since the beginning of the pandemic, including all those who have recovered from the virus.

Of this total, 4,986 are associated with foreign travel, and 30,594 are associated with contact with a known case.

Of the 600 intubated patients, 75.3% are over the age of 70 or suffer from preexisting conditions. Their median age is 65, and 169 of the patients are female.

A total of 651 patients have been discharged from ICUs around the country.

The 101 new deaths recorded on Sunday bring the total number of fatalities in the country to 3,003.

Of all those who lost their lives after suffering from the virus, a total of 1,197 have been female.

The median age of those who passed away with Covid-19 is 79, and 96.2% of them were over the age of 70 or suffered from underlying health issues.
