A boat with about 50 migrants has being towed to the port of Rhodes, completing the rescue operation that started on Thursday night.
Initially, an attempt was made to transfer the passengers to the three ships that were at the spot. However, it was finally decided to have the boat towed by a fishing boat, accompanied by a Coast Guard boat.
The boat is expected to arrive in Rhodes any time now. It is noted that the operation was carried out under very adverse conditions, with winds up to 7 Beaufort.
