On Wednesday, the Greek public health authority EODY announced that there had been 217 news cases of the coronavirus diagnosed in the country in the last 24 hours; three more people had died with the infection.
Continuing the recent trend of domestic cases being the vast majority of new diagnoses, only 16 of the total number were picked up at the entrance points and border gates of the country during the last day.
The total number of cases diagnosed in Greece has now reached 7,684, with just over half, or 55.3% of these people being male.
Only 1,765, or 23%, of the total cases in the country detected since the beginning of the pandemic are considered to have resulted from foreign travel and 3,585, or 46.7%, stemmed from already-known cases.
Currently, 28 patients are being treated by intubation in ICUs across Greece; these individuals have an average age of 68 years. Only eight, or 28.6%, of them, are female.
Almost half, or 42.9%, of these individuals suffer from an underlying disease or are aged 70 and over. Since the beginning of the outbreak, a total of 140 patients have been successfully discharged from the ICU.
There were three more recorded deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of coronavirus-related fatalities in Greece to 235. Females have comprised just 82 of these deaths, at 34.9%. The median age of all those who succumbed with the disease was 77 years; 95.3% of the victims suffered from an underlying disease and/or were age 70 years and over.
