Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber bin Mohammed bin Thani Al Thani recently arrived on the Greek island of Skiathos by way of his famous luxurious yacht “Al Mirqad,” in order to enjoy the island’s beautiful coastline.
Widely known as one of the largest mega-yachts in the world, the 133-meter (436 foot) long vessel dropped anchor along Maratha Bay early on Tuesday, July 21, just opposite of the iconic hotel “Skiathos Palace,” leaving both tourists and locals in awe.
Sheikh Al Thani and his family arrived at Skiathos after having spent some time settling in at Flisvos Marina in Athens. The verdant, idyllic island, located in the Sporades archipelago, is known to be among the family’s most favorite vacation destinations.
In keeping with Covid-19 health and safety measures, the Sheikh and his family, as well as the 51 crew members who operate the yacht, were administered tests by permanent medical staff onboard before venturing into the clear waters of the Aegean Sea.
The 300,000,000-euro ($345 million) yacht moored off the Maratha coastline.

Managers at the Maratha Coast were asked to partition off a small portion of the beautiful sandy beach near the hotel for the royal family to swim and enjoy the lush landscape.
During previous visits, Sheikh Al Thani would walk around Skiathos Town, dining at the island’s most famous eateries while maintaining his close friendships with the locals there.
The mayor of Skiathos, Theodore Tzouma, and the owner of the Skiathos Palace are known to have excellent relations with the Sheikh, with the former having visited Al-Thani in Doha, Qatar.
