Coronavirus Cases Rise to 66 in Greece, Emergency Measures In Place

Twenty-one additional cases of the Covid19 coronavirus were diagnosed on Friday and Saturday according to announcements made by Greek health authorities.
The total number of diagnosed cases has risen to 66 in the country.
13 of the 21 new cases were recorded in the regions of Achaea and Elis, 7 in Attica, and one on Euboea.
The individual who was diagnosed on Friday night positive from Euboea is a 48-year old man from the town of Istiaia.
He was also part of the group of people who had recently visited Israel and Egypt. This is the group from which the first case in Patras was recorded.
In total, 47 members of this group has been diagnosed with the Covid19 coronavirus.
The man from Istiaia visited the hospital of Chalkida, and following the necessary tests, he was diagnosed positive to the covid19 coronavirus.
The man is now self-isolated in his home.
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis chaired a meeting on Saturday and discussed the issue of the coronavirus and its consequences on the economy.
The government will announce on Sunday which schools will remain closed next week while on Monday it will announce financial measures for the stricken from the outbreak areas.
As per the recommendation by the Health Ministry’s committee of experts, all emergency measures announced recently for the counties of Achaea, Elis, and Zante will continue to be in effect until further notice.
This means that schools, sports centers, cinemas, theaters and other public gathering places in these areas will remain closed.
Meanwhile, the situation in Italy continues to be serious, with the country counting so far a total of 197 deaths, which were caused by the virus.
