Number of Coronavirus Cases Jumps to 31 in Greece

Twenty-one new cases of infection with the Covid19 coronavirus were recorded in Greece on Thursday, making the overall number of victims in the country spike to 31.
Twenty one out of the 24 contacts of the ninth person in Greece who was found to be suffering from the virus, and who had just returned from a trip to Israel and Egypt, were tested and were found positive for the virus.
Earlier on Thursday, the Greek Health Ministry had announced that the tenth victim is a close relative of the 66-year-old man who had traveled to Israel and Egypt before being diagnosed positive for the disease on Wednesday.
That gentleman is currently hospitalized in serious condition in Patras.
Meanwhile, a suspected case in Rethymno, Crete has led the local University there to suspend its operation for three days, beginning on Thursday.
A similar decision was taken on Thursday by The Panteion University in Athens, which will remain closed for two days.
Greece’s Health Minister Vassilis Kikilias said on Thursday that individual liability behaviors that do not comply with experts’ directions may become fatal for our fellow citizens who belong to vulnerable groups.
Kikilias once again urged citizens to abide by and trust the instructions and rules of the scientific experts regarding the virus. ”There is no reason to panic but this does not mean we should be complacent”, the Health Minister stressed.
