John Aniston Loses ‘Days of Our Lives’ Contract in Mass Purge

John Aniston, the actor father of A-list star Jennifer Aniston, has lost his long-standing contract with “Days of Our Lives,” following a mass purge of the show’s actors.

“Days of Our Lives” is set to go on an indefinite hiatus, which means many steady actors on the show have now been left with no job, looking at an uncertain future.

The 86-year-old Greek-American Aniston plays Greek mobster Victor Kiriakis on the show. He first appeared on “Days of Our Lives” in 1969, and returned to the show in 1985 for a permanent, regular role on the series as Kiriakis.

He has now been acting in the soap opera for an incredible 34 years.

The series has been on the air for 55 years in total, and is considered one of the longest-running television shows of all time.

Although TVLine reports that “Days of Our Lives” has not been cancelled definitively, the move to release actors from their contracts obviously does not portend well for the legendary soap’s future.

In addition to Aniston, other actors who were let go from their contracts on the show include Kristian Alfonso, Nadia Bjorlin, Mary Beth Evans, and Deidre Hall.

“Days of Our Lives” will not immediately be taken off the air, however, as there have been enough episodes filmed that it will run until the summer of 2020.
