Costa-Gavras Film on the Greek Crisis Premieres at Venice Festival (video)

Greek actor Christos Loulis as Yianis Varoufakis in “Adults in the Room”

The eagerly-awaited film by Greek director Costa-Gavras, “Adults in the Room”, made its world premiere on Saturday, August 31 at the Venice Film Festival.
Adapted from the book of former finance minister Yanis Varoufakis, Adults in the Room allows Costa-Gravras to deliver a fascinating dive into the mysteries of the European Union, while Greece is in the middle of the crisis.
The director of “Z” , “State of Siege” , “Missing” and so many other films that have devoted politics to the cinema, has staged his feature film in the manner of a thriller, where the game of politics becomes a source of anxiety.
As always in the cinema of Costa-Gavras, it is through action that the narrative is made. So the success of the film is to create dramatic tension in the closed session of European technocratic meetings.
Greek actors Christos Loulis and Alexandros Bourdoumis are playing Varoufakis and former Greek PM Alexis Tsipras respectively.
The film will premiere at Greek cinemas on October 3.
