Thousands Celebrate Greek Food and Culture at Chicago’s "Taste of Greektown" Festival

Hellenic pride took center stage last weekend during the “Taste of Greektown,” the acclaimed annual culinary fest in Chicago’s West Loop.

Thousands of food lovers, Greek-Americans and philhellenes turned up for the festival, which celebrated its 30th anniversary with a plethora of tasty dishes created at some of the neighborhood’s most beloved restaurants.

As most Chicagoans know, this strip of Halsted Street has been the epicenter of the city’s acclaimed Greek restaurant scene for decades. Quite simply, the “Taste of Greektown” was a romantic weekend celebration for lovers of Mediterranean culture.

Blending Old World traditions with a 21st century freshness, the tantalizing food and spirits from neighborhood eateries served as the main attraction of the much-anticipated festival.

There was also plenty of music and entertainment, including Greek bands and games for both children and families.
