Tom Hanks' Son Records Brawl Involving Off-Duty Police Officer on Greek Island (video)

Tom Hanks’ son, Chet, shot a video recently of an off-duty police officer beating up a man on Antiparos Island, following a brawl between two groups.
Chet Hanks, 29, the son of Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, has vacationed on Antiparos every year since his family bought a summer house on the island. Hanks happened to be present during a July brawl and used his cell phone to record a fight that broke out between a group of youths and an off-duty police officer.
The 29-year-old American was called into the Antiparos police station as an eyewitness to the incident in order to present the video he had recorded from a higher vantage point overlooking the fight, and to describe what he had seen.
According to Hanks, the incident began when a young Greek tourist tried to spray graffiti on a wall and was confronted by local shop owners. An altercation began between two groups, one consisting of tourists and another of local residents, and a man attempted to intervene to defuse the situation.
According to Hanks, one of the tourists landed the first punch, punching a male in the other group, who replied with vicious blows. It turned out that the man who returned the punches multifold was actually an off-duty police officer.
Αccording to a statement from Hellenic Police headquarters, the incident took place on the evening of July 23. The Hanks video in question is longer than the one that was posted on Instagram.
An investigation has been ordered into the behavior of the off duty police officer.
The officer claims that he intervened only in order to break up the altercation between the two groups. As soon as he revealed his identity, he says, one man attacked him and punched him. The officer believes that he was forced to respond after being hit.
