International Bidding Opens for 30 Percent Stake in Athens International Airport

An international bidding procedure has been launched for the sale of a 30 percent stake in Athens Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport SA (AIA), the largest airport in Greece.
The country’s privatization agency, TAIPED, stated on Friday that the deadline for interested parties is September 30, 2019. The agency added that the bidding process would be conducted in two phases, a pre-qualification phase followed by the submission of binding offers.
TAIPED holds a 30 percent stake in AIA and the Greek state owns 25 percent while the rest belongs to the German-based airport manager AviAlliance and the Greek group Copelouzos.
AIA handles a total of 24 million passengers annually, of whom over 16 million are international travelers.
