According to this year’s “Performance Ranking of Scientific Papers for World Universities,” also known as the “NTU Ranking,” the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki are in the top ten percent out of a total of 4,000 higher education institutions around the world.
The institution which publishes the list pre-examined 4,000 institutions and ended up with a list which included the 835 best universities in the entire world.
The University of Athens ranked 213th in the World, while the University of Thessaloniki ranked 363rd.
These were the only two Greek Universities which ranked in the first 400 places, among the 4,000 institutions which participated.
Other Greek universities that were deemed to be among the 835 best in the world were the University of Ioannina and the University of Crete, which ranked between 501-550; the National Technical University of Athens, coming in with a score of between 551-600; and the University of Patras, ranking between 701-750.
The NTU ranking uses a complex methodology to decide the placement for each one of the prestigious institutions.
The first place was awarded this year to Harvard University in the United States.
