Athens Students Rally Against Macedonians who Oppose FYROM Name

Students from over 20 Attica schools demonstrated on Thursday against their fellow students in Macedonia who have occupied their schools in a protest against the FYROM name deal.
Many schools in Thessaloniki and northern Greece are occupied by students opposing the agreement between the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Greece on the Balkan country’s name.
Hundreds of students in several cities, mainly in Macedonia, rallied in central spots shouting slogans against the Prespa agreement. They carried banners saying “Macedonia is Greek ” and “No to the Prespa agreement”.
Students from about twenty Attica schools gathered outside the National Kapodistrian University of Athens administration building shouting slogans against fascism and nationalism.
An organization called Initiative for the Coordination of Athens Schools and Students organized the event. They issued a statement saying “Students stand tall against the monster of fascism and nationalism.”
Meanwhile, the Greek ruling party SYRIZA issued a statement saying that the rallies and school occupations in Northern Greece were incited by forces from the extreme right.
