Greek Man Attempts Suicide in Electric Company Offices due to Inability to Afford Bill

Citing an inability to pay, a man swallowed a handful of pills inside the Public Power Corporation office in the city of Patras upon finding out the monthly installment amount he was due to pay for his overdue bill.
According to the local news portal PatrasTimes.gr, the incident took place on Wednesday when the man visited the PPC office to settle his debt on a number of overdue electric bills, which led to his electric service being cut.
When the PPC clerk told him the monthly amount he was obliged to pay to settle his account, the man exclaimed he could not afford it, pulled a vial of pills from his pocket and swallowed a handful.
In response, PPC clerks called an ambulance which arrived in time to rush the man to the hospital.
