Greek Students Get Top Prize for Formula Racing Car Design (video)

The Greek students celebrate their success at Silverstone

A group of Greek students from the University of Thessaly has won the top prize for their innovative Formula racing car at an international competition in Britain.
The Centaurus Racing Team won top acclaim in the category of design for their prototype called Amphion at the IMechE Formula Student competition that took place at Silverstone, the home of British motor racing.
The Greek team, from the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Volos, came third in the category of a business plan to develop their prototype, ending overall in second place among 35 teams from all over the world.

Formula Student challenges university teams from across the world to design, build and race a single-seater racing car in one year.
The cars are then judged on their speed, acceleration, and endurance, while the teams are tested on their design, costing and business presentation skills.
Centaurus was formed in 2009 from a team of undergraduate students and is active in the area of Formula style race-car design and manufacturing.
Every year it participates in Formula Student where it has won several prizes for design and engineering of Formula 1 cars.
