EU Says Greek Population Fell by 30,000 Since 2017

New European data published this week has suggested that Greece’s population fell by 2.3 percent in just a year.
ELSTAT — the union’s official statistics agency — said Greece’s population declined by 30,000 to 10.738 million in 2018.
This goes against the EU average where there have been a relatively small increase overall in population of just over one million people.
ELSTAT also included immigration data in its analysis, revealing that deaths outstripped births in the EU, but that the union overall saw an increase in population due to new arrivals from outside.
