The Epitaphios Procession ceremony took place in the evening of Holy Friday with hundreds of believers joining the procession in each parish across Greece.
The official Church of Greece Epitaphios Liturgy and Procession was held in the Metropolitan Church of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary in Athens. Archbishop of Athens and all of Greece Ieronymos, along with Metropolitans from other parts of the Country headed the liturgy.
The Epitaphios Procession went from the Metropolitan Church of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary in Athens to the Monument of the Unknown Soldier in front of the Greek Parliament. Several State officials and politicians attended the ceremony and followed the Procession.
In the same devout atmosphere, parishes in cities and villages across the country held their own Epitaphios Procession with the faithful following and holding candles in mourning for the death of Jesus Christ.
