The area of Zografou in Athens, is the fifth most densely populated neighborhood in Europe, according to research conducted by Professor Alasdair Rae of Sheffield University.
The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens campus located in Zografou and the thousands of students living in the neighborhood contribute to the area being the fifth most densely populated in Europe.
In Zografou there are 28,880 people per square kilometer, making the area one of the most densely populated in Europe.
Barcelona is on top of the list with 53.119 inhabitants per square kilometer, followed by Paris with 52,218. Szczecin in Poland with 32,752 people per square kilometer and Brussels with 29,100 people complete the first four spots.
Eurostat data were used in the survey, with the researcher saying that the density of the population in a city is different from what inhabitants experience in their daily lives.
