Greek Scientists Storm World's Most-Cited List

Five Greek professors have made it onto a prestigious list of the most influential researchers in the worldwide scientific community.
The five — all from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (EKPA)’ Medical School — are among thousands of university professors and researchers who have been highly cited.
Webometrics’ Highly Cited Researchers (h> 100) list is based on the 2017 public profile of professors and researchers in Google Scholar. Its current leading entry is Dr. Sigmund Freud with 482,648 references.
These rankings include 2,285 ‘highly cited’ researchers, scientists and professors with at least 100 published works of their own and who have been cited by at least 100 other researchers.
The research work of EKPA’s Medical School in particular is distinguished as five of its professors and researchers feature on the list of Highly Cited Researchers for 2017.
They are: Professor of the Medical School Georgios Chroussos; Physics Professor Paraskevas Sfika; Professor and Dean Meletios Athanasios Dimopoulos; Professor of Medical School Marinos Dalakas; and Professor of the Medical School Charalambos Moutsopoulos.
Professors and researchers, living or dead, are ranked in descending order with reference to the university they belong to. The first ranking criterion is the h-index, and the second criterion is the total number of references.
