Bulgarian Interior Minister Rumyana Bachvarova expressed her concern for a possible road blockade at the borders by Greek farmers in a letter to Greek Alternate Minister for Civil Protection Nikos Toskas, media in Sofia reported on Wednesday.
In her letter, Bachvarova cites among others, an agreement reached at a meeting of the Supreme Greece-Bulgaria Cooperation Council, according to which the governments of the two countries would take precautionary measures to avoid creating tension at the borders.
At the same time, representatives of transport associations in Sofia stated that if Greek farmers block border crossings they will retaliate by blocking every road that leads to Greece. A similar action had been taken by Bulgarian transporters last year when Greek farmers closed border crossings.
