On Thursday the former Socialist prime minister George Papandreou announced that he is re-joining forces with the base of his old party PASOK.
Papandreou said in a statement that his own political party which he formed called The Movement of Democratic Socialists (KIDISO) will be joining forces and merging with Democratic Alignment which was formed by the Panhellenic Socialist Movement (PASOK) and the Democratic Left (DIMAR) and is led by Fofi Gennimata.
He reiterated that all the parties of “democratic socialism” must merge together in order to surpass the economic crisis gripping the country.
