A mission of 25 top officials from the Ministry of Finance, the General Secretariat Against Corruption and the Special Secretariat for Financial and Economic Crime Unit (SDOE) are leaving for Germany on July 10 for special training and exchange of expertise in issues of tax evasion, corruption and contraband.
Head of the Greek mission to Düsseldorf is Alternate Finance Minister Tryfon Alexiadis. The Greek authorities and tax authorities of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia signed a joint statement of intent on January 16, 2016 agreeing on cooperative action against tax evasion, smuggling and corruption.
The Ministry of Finance and SDOE officials will be trained in the field of economic crime, tax control, tax collection and the use of electronic means to effectively fight tax evasion and corruption. They will also attend a weekly seminar in North Rhine-Westphalia, in the Academy of Bonn, by specially trained colleagues. The seminar will be repeated next week for another 25 Greek officials from pertinent authorities.
