BOY
The young boy accused of stabbing his 14-year-old classmate to death at Gefyra, Thessaloniki, the capital of Macedonia, was transferred to the Thessaloniki juvenile court under conditions of secrecy on Tuesday morning. The victim had superficial stab wounds in his eye and on his neck. The coroner found evidence of strangulation before the victim’s carotid artery was cut on Saturday night.
The tide of public opinion is against the young boy with residents of the town where the crime took place, referred to incidents of violence towards animals and other children. Mothers of other students in his class point to aggressive behavior and state that he traveled to and from school with an air gun.
The juvenile’s line of defense will be that the killer had been taunted and bullied by the victim, his twin brother and another friend for the last two years. “Your father does not deserve to get a bigger and better tractor,” was the statement that sent the young perpetrator on a murderous rampage. The boy who stands accused says he had been nicknamed in the village as “gaga” and he was often ridiculed for his slurred speech and for being heavier than the other students. He had never shared his pain and anger with his family or a counselor. He says he had not intended to go so far as to kill his classmate and he is in a state of shock as is his family that have left the village to be with their son.
