49 Refugees Rescued on Greek Island of Samos

On Holy Saturday morning, members of the Greek Coast Guard located and rescued 49 refugees East of Samos.
The refugees were transferred to Vathy, where they received first aid.
According to data released on Good Friday by the Coordinating Committee for the refugee issue, there are currently 53,980 refugees and migrants in Greece, out of which 7,940 on Eastern Aegean islands, 14,497 in Attica and 29,278 in Northern Greece.
There are at least 2,000 refugees in Piraeus Port, despite the Greek government’s efforts to relocate them in accommodation centers in view of the Easter Holidays’ tourist arrivals.
