Murderer of Greek Rapper Fyssas Released from Jail [video]

RoupakiasGiorgos Roupakias, the confessed murderer of Greek rapper Pavlos Fyssas, was released from jail on Friday, 30 months after the incident as his trial detention period expired.
The Appeals Council issued a decree for his release due to the passage of the maximum period allowed by law for trial detention. Roupakias is now placed under house arrest, until the Three-member Court of Appeals for Felonies will decide his fate.
On September 18, 2015, Roupakias stabbed to death the 34-year-old rapper-activist at Keratsini. The fatal incident brought the question of the involvement of neo-fascist Golden Dawn, as the perpetrator is an active member of the party and allegedly he took orders to assassinate Fyssas. The complicated Golden Dawn trial is dragging due to the large number of defendants and witnesses.
George Roupakias passed the gate of Korydallos Prison with strict caveats as the second provisional arrest warrant keeping him in jail expired as well.
According to the decree of the Judicial Council, Roupakias is obligated to remain under house arrest, under 24-hour police supervision and the only movement he is allowed is to appear in front of the Three-Member Felony Appeals Court, on the day of the hearing with police escort. He is also denied exit from the country.
Roupakias entered his home in Tavros, Athens a little after 9:30 am with two policemen escorting him.
