Greek PM Tsipras: 'The Government Will Protect the Primary Residences of the Weak'

tsiprasGreek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras expressed the government’s determination to protect the primary residences of citizens with weaker economic stability, during his speech before SYRIZA’s Policy Secretariat. According to party members, Tsipras said that the government will proceed by implementing its commitments both towards its partners, but also towards the Greek people.
One of Tsipras’ commitments during the pre-election campaign was to protect citizens and their first homes and maintain social cohesion. “In the same way that we kept our promise about Drapetsona, just as we legislated counter to the ‘interests’ for the media licences, in the same way we will protect the primary homes of the weak,” he added.
Meanwhile, the government and the institutions have been working hard in order to convince Monday’s Eurogroup to release a 2 billion-euro installment, a first phase bailout solution promised to Greece if the country met certain economic benchmarks.
The government seeks to close all the fronts, regarding the first set of prerequisites. The first set includes provisions about the “red loans,” the protection of citizens’ primary residences from foreclosures, the prices of generic medicine, the 23% VAT equivalent in private education and the 100 instalments regulation.
