Matt Damon: New Bourne Film Inspired by Greek Crisis

After 8 years another sequel to the Jason Bourne films is finally in the making, and star Matt Damon says this new movie was inspired by Edward Snowden and the current Greek crisis.

In addition to the fact that Damon revealed the movie will open in Greece, “the beginning of democracy”, the actor also summarized the plot of the new film by saying “without giving too much of it away, it’s Bourne through an austerity-riddled Europe and in a post-Snowden world”.

Veteran actors Tommy Lee Jones and Julia Stiles as well as up-and-coming actress Alicia Vikander will be joining Matt Damon in this next Bourne movie, which will be directed by Paul Greengrass.

The movie will be released next summer on July 29, 2016. It will be interesting to see the film’s take on both the Greek crisis and questions of “spying and civil liberties and the nature of democracy”, as Damon said in his interview with BuzzFeed.
