Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos criticized Parliament President Zoi Konstantopoulou on Sunday for accusing him of not complying with the letter of the law during the process of the exploratory mandates.
“During the exploratory mandate procedure I implement in full the letter and spirit of the Constitution – by general consensus which cannot be ignored,” the president said in a letter to Konstantopoulou.
“My reply reflects my conviction that the correct and democratic interpretation and application of the Constitution is contrary to any notion of ‘authority’ – and subsequently to any ‘exclusivity’ – especially when it manifests itself ex cathedra and under a preferential – and essentially improper – publicity,” he added.
